Purrsday Product Reviews: Cheerble Ball

Today, we’re excited to share our experience with an innovative cat toy that has been making waves in the feline community - the Cheerble Ball. If you’re always on the lookout for ways to keep your cats entertained and active, this might just be the perfect addition to your kitty's playtime arsenal.

What Makes the Cheerble Ball Unique?

The Cheerble Ball stands out from other cat toys on the market with its advanced design and functionality. Unlike traditional cat toys, this one is interactive and automatic, designed to keep your cat engaged without your constant intervention (although nothing can replace the bond between a human and cat during playtime).

It features:

  • Self-Rolling Motion: The Cheerble Ball moves on its own, using sensors to avoid obstacles and change direction, mimicking the unpredictable movement of prey. It also stops periodically, mimicking how a cat's natural prey might pause, making it more engaging when it starts again.

  • Rechargeable Battery: No more disposable batteries! This eco-friendly toy comes with a USB charging cable, making it easy to recharge; quite quickly too.

  • Durable Material: Made from safe, non-toxic materials, it can withstand vigorous play sessions. Due to it being material rather than hard plastic, our cats responded much better to it. The softer texture seemed more inviting and less intimidating than the typical hard plastic toys, encouraging more interaction.

  • Different Modes: With three activity modes (Gentle, Normal, Active), you can customize the play experience based on your cat’s energy level.

Our Experience with the Cheerble Ball

What we liked

  • Engagement and Interaction: The self-moving feature is fantastic for engaging cats. Leela, Billy, and Kaboodle were instantly intrigued by the unpredictable movements of the Cheerble Ball. When we first introduced the ball to Billy, he cautiously approached it, tapping it with his paw. As the ball rolled away and changed direction, Billy's eyes widened with excitement, and he chased it around the room, thoroughly entertained.

  • Durability: The ball has proven to be quite robust. Despite being batted around and even chewed on, it still functions perfectly. Leela, though she prefers to watch the others play first, couldn't resist giving the ball a few swats when it was her turn. Even after her claws made contact multiple times, the ball showed no signs of wear and tear.

  • Convenient Charging: The USB charging feature is a major plus. It's quick and easy to get the ball ready for another round of play. After a particularly energetic session with Kaboodle, recharging the ball took only a short time, and it was ready for his next play session.

What wasn’t as good

  • Price: Yes, the Cheerble Ball is more expensive than other cat toys. However, its advanced features goes some way to justify the price for those looking for a high-tech option. Watch out for offers and discounts too!

  • Noise: The motor can be a bit noisy, which might be startling for some cats initially. However, our cats quickly adapted. At first, Leela was hesitant because of the noise, but after a few minutes of watching Billy and Kaboodle play, she became curious and eventually engaged with it when the others were done.

Supervision and Play Recommendations

While the Cheerble Ball is a fantastic toy, we recommend supervising play sessions and incorporating some structured activities:

  • Versatility: We discovered that placing the Cheerble Ball in a cardboard box with holes cut out made it even more entertaining. Try including things like feathers into the box too. The confined space added an element of challenge and fun, making our cats play longer. One evening, Kaboodle spent a good while chasing and pawing at the ball through the holes, determined to catch it. His persistence was rewarded when he finally managed to trap it in one corner, giving him a victorious moment.

  • Timed Play Sessions: To keep your cat engaged without over-stimulation, limit play sessions to a few minutes at a time.

  • Reward System: After several minutes of play, it’s a good idea to remove the ball and replace it with kibble as a reward. This helps maintain their interest and gives them a sense of accomplishment.

  • Storage: Tidy the ball away after each session to prevent it from becoming just another object in the room. This keeps it special and exciting for your cat.

Conclusion: Is It Worth Buying?

The Cheerble Ball offers a unique and engaging play experience for cats, thanks to its interactive features and durable design. While it is on the pricier side, the benefits it provides in terms of engagement and exercise make it a worthy investment for cat owners looking to keep their pets active and entertained. Just remember to supervise play sessions and mix in some kibble rewards to keep your kitty happy and satisfied.

Overall, we highly recommend the Cheerble Ball for any cat lover looking to add a touch of tech to their pet’s playtime.

Cats Playing Fetch? You Bet They Can!

Pic by Hanna, Pexels It's a common misconception that fetch is a game exclusively for our canine companions. But here at Kitten Kaboodle, we know better! Any cat lover who's spent time with these fascinating felines will tell you: many cats love a good game of fetch. And if you haven't experienced this joy yet, you're in for a treat! The Science Behind the Fun A recent study published in the journal Animal Cognition (Saito et al., 2023) revealed some surprising findings. It turns out that over 41% of cats engage in fetch-like behaviour! This dispels the myth that cats are solely solitary creatures, uninterested in interactive play with their humans. The research indicates that cats, just like dogs, can find joy and satisfaction in retrieving objects. So, what's the motivation behind this behaviour? Well, it seems to be a combination of factors. For some cats, it's the thrill of the chase. They love the anticipation of watching their favourite toy sail ...

Respect Your Cat Day

Apparently, on March 28th 1384, King Richard II issued a royal decree banning the eating of cats in England. Whether the edict was real or just a historical whisper passed down over time, the fact that it needed saying at all is mind-blowing. I’ll be honest—when I first heard that people used to eat cats, I was completely horrified! 😱 The idea that, once upon a time, cats weren’t respected or even seen as pets, but as food, is awful.  While it’s difficult to know how widespread cat consumption really was in medieval Europe, there are scattered historical records suggesting that in times of famine or poverty, cats (and dogs) were sadly sometimes eaten. Pic: Pixabay But maybe that’s exactly why March 28th  became Respect Your Cat Day —a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come in our relationship with these incredible creatures… and how much they deserve our care, protection, and respect.
