Les Chats de Nice: La Ronronnerie

Purrfect Pitstop: A Meow-vellous Morning at La Ronronnerie

Bonjour, mes chatons! Today, we're whisking you away to the heart of Nice, to a feline paradise known as La Ronronnerie, which translates to "The Purring." This charming cat cafe nestled in Nice is the purrfect spot for a delightful dose of cuddles and coffee (or should we say, catnip and catpuccinos?).

Now, you know us at Kitten Kaboodle – we can't resist a good cat cafe, and La Ronronnerie had us at "meow." From the moment we stepped into this cozy haven, we were greeted by the most delightful symphony of purrs and gentle meows. The staff, who were pawsitively friendly and knowledgeable, showed us to our seats and explained the cafe's concept.

La Ronronnerie isn't just about grabbing a cup of coffee (although their coffee was delicious, by the way!). This special place is dedicated to providing a loving and comfortable environment for rescued cats. The cafe works closely with local shelters to give these feline friends a safe space to relax and socialize, all while waiting for their furever homes. We all know how important socialization is for cats, and La Ronronnerie provides a purrfect environment for them to blossom.

Speaking of blossoming, let's talk about the feline residents of La Ronronnerie! We were lucky enough to meet a whole whiskerful bunch of adorable kitties during our visit. There was Loumi, a stunning chat noir, with eyes like sapphires, who stole our hearts with her playful spirit. Vanille, a fluffy Persian who was enjoying a well earned rest. Kayda regally lounged on a cat tree, occasionally gracing us with his presence. And Pépito, a sublime bengal enjoyed a good ear scratch whilst napping in his hammock.

Each cat at La Ronronnerie has a unique personality, and the staff takes great care to ensure their well-being. The cafe has a limited number of guests allowed at a time, creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere for both the humans and the feline residents. This thoughtful approach ensures that the cats are never overwhelmed and can enjoy quality interactions with their human visitors.

But enough about us humans! Let's get to the other impawtant stuff – the food! La Ronronnerie offers a delightful selection of light bites and beverages, perfect for a casual brunch or afternoon tea. We opted for a decadent ham and cheese bagel which was served on a bed of salad with a delicious dressing. The coffees were as you would wish for, sweet and creamy. The portions were generous, and the food was fresh and delicious – just what we needed to hit the spot after a morning of feline fun.

Our visit to La Ronronnerie was a purrfect blend of relaxation, cuddles, and delicious food. We left feeling happy, recharged, and completely smitten with all the wonderful cats we met. If you're ever in Nice and looking for a unique and heartwarming experience, La Ronronnerie is a must-visit. Just remember to arrive early, as this popular spot can fill up quickly!

Here are some additional pawsome points to keep in mind for your visit to La Ronronnerie:

  • Arrive early. Since La Ronronnerie limits the number of guests at a time to ensure a comfortable environment for the cats, it's best to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
  • Respect the cats. These furry residents are the stars of the show! Be gentle with them, and allow them to initiate interaction. If a cat seems uninterested, don't force it. There will be plenty of other cuddly kitties waiting to meet you.
  • Come prepared to relax and unwind. La Ronronnerie is all about creating a peaceful atmosphere for both humans and cats. So, take a deep breath, put your phone away, and enjoy some quality time with these adorable creatures.

We hope this blog post has whisked you away to the magical world of La Ronronnerie. If you're planning a trip to Nice, we highly recommend adding this cat cafe to your itinerary. Just remember to pack your love for cats, your camera, and an empty lap – you're sure to make some unforgettable furry friends!

P.S. Don't forget to share your photos from La Ronronnerie with us using the hashtag #KittenKaboodle! We can't wait to see your purr-fect captures.

Respect Your Cat Day

Apparently, on March 28th 1384, King Richard II issued a royal decree banning the eating of cats in England. Whether the edict was real or just a historical whisper passed down over time, the fact that it needed saying at all is mind-blowing. I’ll be honest—when I first heard that people used to eat cats, I was completely horrified! ðŸ˜± The idea that, once upon a time, cats weren’t respected or even seen as pets, but as food, is awful.  While it’s difficult to know how widespread cat consumption really was in medieval Europe, there are scattered historical records suggesting that in times of famine or poverty, cats (and dogs) were sadly sometimes eaten. Pic: Pixabay But maybe that’s exactly why March 28th  became Respect Your Cat Day —a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come in our relationship with these incredible creatures… and how much they deserve our care, protection, and respect. So What Is Respect Your Cat Day? Pic: Maxima This isn’t just a day for giving...

Cats Playing Fetch? You Bet They Can!

Pic by Hanna, Pexels It's a common misconception that fetch is a game exclusively for our canine companions. But here at Kitten Kaboodle, we know better! Any cat lover who's spent time with these fascinating felines will tell you: many cats love a good game of fetch. And if you haven't experienced this joy yet, you're in for a treat! The Science Behind the Fun A recent study published in the journal Animal Cognition (Saito et al., 2023) revealed some surprising findings. It turns out that over 41% of cats engage in fetch-like behaviour! This dispels the myth that cats are solely solitary creatures, uninterested in interactive play with their humans. The research indicates that cats, just like dogs, can find joy and satisfaction in retrieving objects. So, what's the motivation behind this behaviour? Well, it seems to be a combination of factors. For some cats, it's the thrill of the chase. They love the anticipation of watching their favourite toy sail ...
